Marriott Bonvoy Cards Offer Big Welcome Bonus, Get Up to 185000 Points

Marriott Bonvoy Credit Cards

Marriott is currently giving new cardholders of the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy American Express Card and the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express Card a special welcome bonus offer. With the Bevy card, you can earn 155,000 points (valued at about $1,240), and with the Brilliant card, you can earn 185,000 points (valued at about $1,480).

The Benefits of the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy Credit Card

The Marriott Bonvoy Bevy Credit Card is giving new cardholders 155000 Marriott Bonvoy points when they spend $5,000 on eligible purchases in the first six months after opening the account.

Experts value Marriott points at around 0.8 cents, meaning you could earn about $1,240 towards stays at Marriott hotels. This is an increase from the usual bonus of 85,000 points for the Bevy card.

The Mariott Bevy card has a $250 annual fee, but it offers several benefits, like a yearly free night award (for hotels costing up to 50,000 points per night) after spending around $15,000 through the card in one year.

Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status includes perks like late checkout and possible room upgrades, along with 15 elite night credits annually to help you achieve higher elite status tiers, along with 1,000 bonus points for each paid eligible stay booked directly through Marriott Bonvoy.

The Benefits of the Marriott Brilliant Card

The Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express Card is offering a higher welcome bonus than the Bevy card, with 185,000 Marriott Bonvoy points after spending $6,000 in eligible purchases within the first six months of opening an account. These 185,000 points are valued at around $1,480, almost double the original 95,000-point bonus.

The Marriott Brilliant Card has a higher annual fee of $650, but it comes with more benefits like $25 per month in statement credits for eligible restaurant purchases worldwide, an annual free night award for hotels up to 85,000 points per night, and Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite status which can include upgrades or late checkouts.

Additionally, it also has perks like 25 elite night credits each year to help you reach higher elite status levels and statement credits for Global Entry ($100) or TSA PreCheck (up to $85).

Benefits of these Cards

Let’s look at an example to understand these offers better. Suppose you want to stay at the Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay Hotel for four nights in early June. The room with a king bed would cost 194,000 points (48,000 points for the first three nights and 50,000 points for the fourth night), which is approximately $1,552.

With the Brilliant card’s welcome bonus offer, you only need to pay about $72 out of pocket for this stay. With the Bevy card, it would be about $312.

Let’s take another example. Suppose you want to spend two nights at the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua in Maui, Hawaii, in early June. The total cost for these nights would be 186,000 points (94,000 points for the first night and 92,000 points for the second night), which is approximately $1,488.

With the Brilliant card’s welcome bonus offer, you would only need to pay about $8 out of pocket for this stay. With the Bevy card, it would be about $248.

Who is Eligible for the Welcome Bonus?

The Marriott Bevy Card and Marriott Brilliant card, like other American Express cards, have specific rules that decide who can get the welcome bonus. American Express has a limit where you cannot open more than two cards within 90 days, and if you cannot open a card, you will not qualify for its welcome bonus.

However, these benefits are not endless, as American Express only allows you to earn a welcome bonus once per card for the entirety of your lifetime. So, if you have had one of these cards before, you will not be eligible to earn the welcome bonus again. The restriction set by American Express is not enough, as each card has a list of separate requirements that need to be fulfilled to qualify for the bonus.

To be eligible for the welcome bonus offer of the Marriott Brilliant card, you cannot currently have or had cards such as the Bonvoy Brilliant card before, Starwood Preferred Guest American Express Luxury Card or its previous versions, Chase Ritz-Carlton Credit Card in the last 30 days, and not have opened the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful Credit Card, Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card, or Marriott Bonvoy Bold Credit Card in the last 90 days.

Moreover, to be eligible, the individual cannot have received a welcome bonus or upgrade offer from the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful Credit Card, Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card, or Marriott Bonvoy Bold Credit Card in the last 24 months.

Similarly, the Marriott Bevy Card has a set of restrictions in place that people should qualify to enjoy the benefits. To qualify for the Marriott Bevy card bonus, you must not currently have or have ever had the Bonvoy Bevy card, the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express Card, the Chase Ritz-Carlton Credit Card, Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful Credit Card, Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card, Marriott Bonvoy Bold Credit Card, or certain other cards that are no longer available to new applicants in the last 30 days.

Moreover, the individual cannot have opened specified Marriott Bonvoy cards such as Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful Credit Card, Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card, or Marriott Bonvoy Bold Credit Card in the last 90 days or received a welcome bonus or upgrade offer from specified Marriott Bonvoy cards like Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful Credit Card, Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card, or Marriott Bonvoy Bold Credit Card in the last 24 months.
